Robert Barnhardt joined the Curry School Foundation Board in 2003. 

Bob is a Dean Emeritus and Professor of Textile & Apparel Management at North Carolina State University. He has enjoyed a long and successful career, beginning as an associate professor of fabric technology at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. After accepting a position as dean of the Institute of Textile and Technology (ITT) in Charlottesville 1966, he earned two degrees in the Curry School of Education: an M.Ed. in administration and supervision (1970) and an Ed.D in higher education administration (1974).                                                            

Bob later became executive vice president and chief operation officer of ITT before accepting a position as dean of the NC State College of Textiles. After retiring in 1999, he served a one-year appointment as president of ITT and two one-year appointments at NC State as interim provost and executive vice chancellor in 2003 and interim chancellor in 2004. 

Bob also hold an M.S. in textile technology from ITT and a B.S. in textile engineering from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. He currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina.
