Marvin N. “Skip” Schoenhals joined the Curry School Foundation Board in 2008.

skip_schoenhalsSkip lives in Wilmington, Delaware, where he serves as Chairman of WSFS Financial Corporation. He has been executive chairman of WSFS Financial Corporation and its primary subsidiary, the Wilmington Savings Fund Society, FSB, since 1992. He also served as president and CEO of WSFS from 1990 until 2007.  

Skip has been chairman of Vision 2015 in Delaware since its organization over three years ago. Vision 2015 is a plan produced by a broad cross-section of leaders in Delaware to provide a road map whereby Delaware’s public education system can become the best in the world by 2015. Vision 2015 published its plan for Delaware in October 2006. Since that time, it has been heralded by national and international experts as one of the best plans for reforming the public education system of an entire state.  

Since the publication of the plan, Schoenhals and others have been working to see that the plan becomes a reality. He is also chair of the Leadership for Education Achievement in Delaware Committee, which was created by an Executive Order of the Governor in June 2007. As part of the implementation steps of Vision 2015, the Governor instructed the committee to study and report on the funding of Delaware’s Public Education and to develop a method for evaluating individual schools in the state. 

He is active in several professional business and advisory organizations, as well as, community affairs. He is chair of the Delaware Public Policy Institute, a member of the Board and chair of the Sunday Breakfast Mission, an organization serving the homeless in Wilmington. He currently serves as Board chair of Burris Logistics, a privately owned company, distributing frozen food products on the East Coast.  

Skip holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and a MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Finance. He is also the former mayor of Owosso Michigan.
