Core IT Curriculum (30 units)

Students in all Instructional Technology graduate programs complete a core of 30 units of graduate level courses. Full-time students entering a graduate program in IT are advised to begin their course of study in the Fall semester due to the curriculum sequencing. It is important for students to meet with their advisor to determine a course of study as soon as possible after admission.

EDLF research courses may also serve as electives for Master’s students. Additional course work may be deemed necessary by the student's doctoral committee.

ESL Students:
International students and others whose native language is not English are required to contact the UVA Center for American English Language and Culture at the beginning of their first semester of study and have their language proficiency assessed. It is required that they enroll in the recommended courses, if any, resulting from this assessment. This requirement is independent of scores on GRE and TOEFL exams.

Note: For Ph.D. students wishing to focus on historiography, 12 units of historical research methods courses may be substituted for 12 units of research course.
