Martin Tessmer is Professor of Instructional Design at the
University of South Alabama. Over the past eleven years he has
worked as an instructional design consultant to postsecondary
administration and faculty at four different institutions. He

Ray Bland

Ray Bland is in his third year in the IDD doctoral program at
USA. His primary areas of interest in IDD are performance
improvement for adult learners, computer based training, and
multimedia authoring. Prior to enrolling in the IDD program,
Ray spent a 30 year career in the U. S. Coast Guard.

Tim Burgess

I am an Instructional Design and Development Ph.D. student at
the University of South Alabama. High school science teaching
experience is combined with truck driving skills to provide
classroom support and teacher training services to 28 area
public high schools. Research interests include software
related instructional design issues such as certitude,
motivation and metacognitive skill detection methods.

Arthur Jeffery

I am a graduate student in the doctoral program at the
Universtiy of South Alabama, focusing on Human Performance
Technology. I also serve as a member of the faculty of the
College of Business and Mangement Studies at USA, where I teach
operations management and quantitative analysis and statistics.
I have an MBA from the University of Kansas and an M.S. in
Systems Mangement from USC.

Mike Martin

Michael S. Martin has over 8 years active duty experience in
the U.S. Navy as a pilot and, in various other endeavors, as an
instructor, manager, and supervisor. He is experienced in
performing needs assessments, performance analysis, program and
instructional evaluations, and in CBT development. Current
research interest is in training and evaluation with mental
models.

John Morrow

I am presently enrolled at the University of South Alabama in
the Instructional Systems Design and Development doctoral
program. I work as an 8th grade middle school teacher and as an
independent consultant for local industry, where I develop
instructional curricula for OSHA, EPA and DOT.

Steve Reynolds

I am a United States Coast Guard Falcon Jet instructor and
flight examiner, responsible for the implementation of flight
and ground training for 150 pilots. I received a B.S. degree
from the USCG academy in 1987. I am currently a Master's
candidate in the ID program at the University of South Alabama.

Laurie Shorter

This quarter I will complete my second year as a student in the
Instructional Design and Development Ph.D. program. With an
undergraduate degree in education, and a master's degree in
school counseling, I presently work as high school counselor at
a large Episcopal school. At this point, learning
strategies--particularly those which pertain to hypermedia,
multimedia, and telecommunications--are my main research
interest.

Alan Whitman

I am a first-year doctoral student at the University of South
Alabama. I received my master's degree from USA in
Instructional Technology in 1995. I also work as a professional
photographer and multimedia development consultant, in addition
to my duties as teaching assistant. I am a long-time Mobile
resident.
