The Purdue University Team

Team Sponsor: Peg Ertmer

Peg Ertmer is an assistant professor in Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University. As a former public school teacher and current faculty member, Peg's work is directed toward helping learners become better learners. Specifically this interest has led her to examine the impact that specific instructional approaches/strategies, including case-based instruction, have on both the processes and products of learning. She has developed and used case studies in her own courses and has served as a judge and provocateur for the 1996 and 1997 ID Case Competitions. She and Jim Quinn (University of Oakland) have just finished compiling "The ID CaseBook: Case Studies in Instructional Design" which will be published by Prentice-Hall in August 1998. Other research interests include the development of self-regulated (expert) learners, technology integration, and the education of instructional designers. Peg's publications have appeared in Educational Technology Research and Development, Performance Improvement Quarterly, and Instructional Science. She and her husband and 4 kids moved from Colorado to Indiana 8 years ago and still haven't figured out what humidity is good for!
