Kay McCarron
Kay McCarron is a student in the Ph.D. program in Instructional
Technology at the Curry School of Education. She received her
Master's degree from the University of Virginia in Anthropology
(Archaeology) and has worked as a professional archaeologist
for the past 20 years. She has worked for various public
agencies including the U.S. Forest Service, the Colorado
Historic Preservation Office, Fairfax County (VA) Office of
Comprehensive Planning and numerous museums. Her primary area
of interest within Historical Archaeology is public education
and her intention is to combine her interests through the
design and development of multimedia instructional programs.
Kevin McClain
Kevin McClain is a Master's candidate in Instructional Technology at UVa.
He holds a BA in Secondary Education/English from the University of
South Carolina-Aiken. Kevin hopes to contribute to the development
and implementation of instructional multimedia applications for
Humanities' studies. Currently, he works in the UVa library's
Digital Image Center. In his spare time he enjoys reading early
20th century literature, studying Hypertext theory, and
spending time with his wife, Brea. Newly wed in May
of 1997, Kevin and Brea are now expecting.
Susannah T. McGowan
Susannah McGowan is an aspiring instructional designer who plans
to complete her master's degree in IT at UVa. Before moving to
Central Virginia, I (she) received her bachelor of arts degrees in
Art History and French at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. After working at Monticello and the National Gallery of Art,
she hopes to combine her museum experience with a masters in
Instructional Technology to contribute more to the education of art.
When not at Curry, Susannah teaches ballet, choreographs, and tutors
at an all-boys prep school.
Noah J. Merritt
Noah is a master's candidate in Instructional Technology at UVa. Prior
to moving to Charlottesville, he has lived in Syracuse New York,
Portland Maine, and Ft. Lauderdale Florida. His previous careers include:
eight years as a paramedic, six summers as a white water rafting guide,
a few winters taking orders for LLBean, time spent as an amateur
electrician (we wire for fire), and gross pathology. He has a B.S. in
Molecular Biology from the State University of New York college at
Oswego. His lifelong love of photography and graphic art brought him
to instructional technology with the hope that he had at last found a field
broad enough to include most of his extremely varied interests.
Lisa Washington
Lisa is a doctoral student in Instructional Technology at UVA.
She received her masters degree in Educational Communication
& Technology from NYU. Before starting the IT program, Lisa was
the Product Manager of Classroom Prodigy, an online service for K-12
students and educators. Her interaction with teachers led to her current
interest in practical applications of technology in the K-12 classroom
and the inclusion of technology instruction in preservice teacher education.
