Woodrow Trathen is currently an Assistant Professor in the
Reading/Language Arts Program at
Appalachian State University in Boone,
North Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in Foundations of Education
with an emphasis in Reading, Cognition and Instruction from the
University of Utah in 1995.
He has published articles in Reading Research Quarterly, Journal of Reading, Journal of Educational Psychology, Contemporary Educational Psychology and the Journal of Teacher Education. He has also published chapters in edited books.
His current professional interests focus on literacy issues in schooling and teacher education, on the development of beginning reading processes and comprehension processes, and on the use of telecommunications in teacher education.
