stempleton

The Speaker for our 2007 lecture was Dr. Shane Templeton, Foundation Professor of Literacy Studies, University of Nevada, Reno.

The 2007 George Graham lecture was:

"Revolutionizing Vocabulary Instruction, K-12:
What Does the Developmental Model Tell Us?"

Developing students' vocabulary knowledge is at present one of the most challenging issues facing educators and one of literacy's hottest topics. How does a developmental model of word knowledge incorporate recent findings from research in vocabulary learning and instruction? How do these two lines of research support teachers efforts to teach phonics, spelling, and vocabulary? You will be both reassured and surprised as we address these questions in the context of exploring the new revolution in vocabulary /lexical specific/ and /generative/vocabulary instruction.

When it was : Saturday, April 21st (see, told you you missed it.....)

Where it was: Clark Hall Auditorium, 291 McCormick Road, Charlottesville, VA
