A Word About this Teaching Resource . . .

This area of the Jamestown Virtual Colony website is its core component. The goal in creating this website was to help teachers whose content includes the founding of Jamestown and the establishment of the Jamestown Settlement. We have developed a series of lesson plans around a coherent unit framework of five themes. While an in-depth study of Jamestown in an elective course might utilize the full unit, we know that most teachers can't devote that much time to teaching about Jamestown. Even though the lesson plans are part of a larger unit, we believe that teachers can pull lessons, ideas, and resources related to particular content or objectives which they plan to teach.
