Through the use of lecture, class discussion, group activities, and
individual assignments, each student will be able to:
- Understand the purpose and establishment of the London Company.
- Grasp the significance of the three colonial charters.
- Understand why the London Company failed.
- Grasp the significance of the London Company, East India Company, and Hudson Bay Company.
- Understand why the English wanted to colonize.
- Understand the role that the London Company played in the establishment of the Jamestown colony.
- Know about the various struggles faced by the colonists in Jamestown.
- Know about how the colonists attempted to overcome the struggles that they encountered in Jamestown.
- Grasp the significance of the Great Charter.
- Understand the concept of particular plantation.
- Know about the headright system.
